Vaping Etiquette: The Dos and Don'ts of Vaping

Vaping Etiquette vaping rules

Vaping is a pastime that a lot of people partake in without much thought. To those people, vaping is second nature, which can sometimes lead to a lack of consideration for other people. Need a refresher on modern vaping etiquette? Keep reading to get the latest lowdown from blu.

DO: AVOID CROWDED AREAS

Given the far-reaching nature of vapour, it can be quite disruptive when used in cramped, small spaces.

Inhaling and exhaling your vape in places where lots of people gather is tricky because the vapour itself must go somewhere – that place often being right in front of potential non-vapers and children who are also in the room. Think of places like supermarkets, shopping malls, and local attractions.

Remember; not everyone vapes. So, before you take out your vape in a smaller-than-usual space, think twice.

DON’T: VAPE IN RESTRICTED SPACES

In similar terms, vaping in physically small places is also quite a challenge.

While vaping in crowded spaces is tough because of the people around you, vaping in restricted spaces is equally as tough because there’s not a lot of room for the vapour to escape.

If you then add other people into the mix, you’ll very quickly start to make enemies. So, in short, don’t vape in crowded, or small spaces.

DO: RESPECT NON-VAPERS

As we said previously, not everyone vapes. Some don’t like the smell and some find it difficult to breathe surrounded by the smoke left behind. While it’s second nature to you, it isn’t always the case to those around you.

Be respectful when choosing where to vape, and if you’re ever uncertain, a quick “Is it okay if I vape here?” never goes unwanted.

DON’T: BLOW VAPOUR IN SOMEONE’S FACE

Whether done as a practical joke, or accidentally, blowing smoke directly at someone’s face is a major faux pas, and should never be done.

Not only is it disrespectful, but if someone suffers from a condition like asthma, you could quickly cause them to be short of breath for an unnecessary reason.

DO: CONSIDER THE HEALTH OF OTHERS

From breathing complications to heightened sensitivity to senses and smells, vaping can be quite an annoyance to some people.

Before you take out your vape, ask yourself: is there anyone around me carrying an inhaler? If you are not able to 100% say no, you should really wait until the air is clear and free before having a puff.

DON’T: VAPE AROUND YOUNG PEOPLE

Children’s bodies are still growing and aren’t as developed as adults’. Therefore, introducing vape smoke into the air around younger people may cause coughing and issues breathing, which they may not be equipped enough to deal with yet.

This is especially true in enclosed spaces. For example, it is illegal to smoke in a car or other vehicle with anyone under 18 present, and it is advised that you do not vape either.

DO: DISPOSE OF YOUR VAPE PROPERLY

Vape disposal is a touchy subject. With a mixture of both regulatory changes in the UK and growing pressure from international markets on the recyclability of vapes, the topic is rarely far from the headlines.

When you’re finished with your vape, make sure you dispose of it safely and responsibly. Don’t just throw it on the ground or put it in any old bin – remember, vapes contain electrical components like batteries and circuit boards, both of which must be disposed of in a safe manner.

Take your time, read through the disposal instructions for your vape pen, and follow them.

DON’T: IGNORE SAFETY PRECAUTIONS

While you may have used a vape for many years, some brands do differ in terms of their usage instructions.

From the temperatures they can be stored at to the orientations and climates they can be used in, no two vapes are the same. Before you crack open your new vape pen, take a minute to read through the instructions to check off anything you were uncertain about.

DO: USE DESIGNATED VAPING AREAS

On flights, in buildings, and in public places, there will often be specific places put aside for people to use for smoking and vaping. Places like schools, public transport, hospitals, and even airports, are all known to have set aside space dedicated to vaping.

Using your device outside of these designated spaces may lead to you being escorted from the premises, or worse: barred.

DON’T: LEND YOUR VAPE TO STRANGERS

The number one way of spreading illness among vapers is by lending vapes to strangers. Infections, viruses, and even theft are all possible if you’re not careful about who uses your vape.
