How do you know what you should be looking for when choosing a vape, and which e-cigarette makes the most sense for your lifestyle and needs? Below, we’ll go through the process of choosing a vape to make sure that you get the right one for you.

How to choose the right vape for you

1. What style and type of device are you looking for?

• Some people may prefer the feeling of a bigger device (often referred to as ‘box mods’) while others favour the lightness and ease of carrying that comes with a slimmer device. This may somewhat depend on your lifestyle and where you will be using your vape – for example, if you’ll be taking your e-cigarette with you everywhere you go, a slimmer device would be a lot more convenient.

• Do you want a mouth to lung (MTL) or direct to lung (DTL) experience? MTL is the classic vape experience, whereas DTL devices, sometimes called sub ohm devices, create more vapour than standard devices, and these bigger clouds of vapour from these devices are usually inhaled directly into the lungs. Some vapers prefer MTL, especially those who have recently switched from smoking and are looking for a similar experience. MTL is also better for those who don’t want to produce a lot of vapour – while if you are vaping at home or outside then you may be happy to be surrounded by large plumes of vapour, vaping in more confined environments may require a more subtle vape. However, some people find DTL more satisfying.

• Box mods are generally always filled up by the user pouring e-liquid into a part of the device – this type of ecig is often referred to as an open device. With the slimmer e-cigs, you will find more of a mixture of open devices and closed devices – closed meaning a device where you just put pre-filled pods in and go. Some people find the closed devices, such as our myblu, easier to use, while others enjoy the control that they have with an open device such as our PRO. 2. What’s your budget?

Vapes can vary wildly in price, starting from around £9.99 and costing up to over £100 for the really premium experiences. While it is up to you how much you want to spend, and if you want to splash the cash then why not, you don’t need to spend a lot to get a high quality vape. 3. How long do you need your e cig to last between charges?

If you are going to be using your device a lot and mostly at times when you’re out and about, then you’ll want something with a long battery life to ensure it doesn’t die on you! If you’re not planning on using very much, or taking it out with you, then this won’t be such a big concern. However, it still is worth getting an e cig with a long-lasting battery if possible, just in case you ever need it. Both our e-cigarettes last all day when fully charged (based on average vaping levels).

4. What flavours do you like, and which nicotine strength do you require ?

It is usually advised to only use e-liquids that are compatible with your particular device – otherwise you risk damaging your e-cigarette. With that in mind, you will want to look carefully at the compatible e-liquids offered to decide if these are flavours you will enjoy. Think about what types of tastes you usually enjoy while eating and drinking, as this will go some way towards showing you which vape liquids you’ll enjoy.
