How to Inhale Vape Properly: Tips for Drawing Vapour

How to inhale vape

How to inhale can often be overlooked, especially for those who have recently started vaping. To get the methods locked down and maximise your vaping experience, check out the following answers to your vaping FAQs.

How do I vape?

Whether you’re doing it for the first time of the hundredth time, you should always be careful when inhaling. Not taking care can result in coughing or a bad nicotine rush and, especially with those who have just made the switch, can make or break your vaping experience.

To do this, you need to understand the vape device you have and how it works. For example, the blu 2.0 device does not have a button activation like our blu PRO, but an airflow detection system. So, you simply need to take a draw to activate it.

Take a few short puffs before taking a longer drag lasting around 3 to 5 seconds. These ‘primer puffs’ will start the process and help improve the flavour of your first proper draw.

It is important to purse your lips around the mouthpiece so there is no air gap where vapour can escape. Then, depending on your preference, you can either fill your mouth with vapour before taking it into your lungs or exhale it without inhaling.

VAPE INHALATION TECHNIQUES

When it comes to inhaling, you actually have a couple of options to choose from. There are two main inhalation techniques; mouth-to-lung vaping and direct-to-lung vaping, both of which we’ll explain below:

WHAT IS MOUTH-TO-LUNG VAPING?

Mouth-to-lung (MTL) vaping is a technique that smokers will be very familiar with. It involves taking the vapour into your mouth first, before then pushing it down into your lungs. MTL inhalation is generally favoured by beginners, as it’s easier to get used to. MTL inhalation provides a better flavour sensation as the vapour is held in the mouth.

WHAT IS DIRECT-TO-LUNG VAPING?

Direct to lung (DTL) vaping means taking the vapour directly into your lungs, without holding it briefly in your mouth.

DTL vaping is usually favoured by more experienced vapers as the vapour is denser and gives a stronger throat hit.

How often should I vape?

This is very dependent on the individual vaper and their experience, or lack of, with vaping. It’s sensible to start off slowly if you have recently started vaping to understand the technique and how varying levels of nicotine will affect you when vaping. Once you become used to the sensation, you should have a much clearer picture of the levels and frequency you require.

Our blu 2.0 vapes have approximately 250 puffs per full charge (based on average usage), and most vapers will take between 3 and 7 draws per session – although of course this will vary depending on each person’s vaping style.

How long should I wait between puffs?

You will likely feel the effect of a draw within 30 seconds, so it is important to leave a break between each puff. Most vapers tend to wait around 5 minutes between each puff.

How many puffs a day can you vape?

The recommended maximum puffs per day varies based on your past nicotine usage and the strength of the e-liquid chosen.

Can you vape too much?

Again, naturally this differs from person to person, so you’re likely to know when you’ve had your fill. If you have just started vaping, make sure you wait between puffs and drawing vapour to assess how it feels and affects you. Once you become more accustom to the sensation, you’ll have better idea of your tolerance levels.
