What are the ingredients in e-liquid?

mybluTM ingredients banner

Ever wondered what’s in a vape liquid? Vaping liquid is made up of mostly Propylene Glycol (PG), Vegetable Glycerine (VG), water, flavourings and nicotine. Typically, these e-liquids feature both PG and VG, with one of the two often more dominant than the other.

This article will explore how e-liquids are made and ‘vape juice’ ingredients, describing how vapes are flavoured. It will also delve into blu’s high-quality e liquid ingredients list.

How Is E-Liquid Made?

Knowing what e-liquid is made of, it’s time to look at the way it’s manufactured.

Making e-liquid is a lengthy process, and as with any other recipe, e-liquid ingredients need to be carefully measured before mixing. This is particularly important with nicotine, as it needs to be measured perfectly to ensure that the correct nicotine percentage is obtained.

HOW ARE VAPES FLAVOURED?

The flavourings are added to the base of PG and VG, and then the mix. It usually requires only a small amount to give the e-liquid the flavour strength it needs.

Next, the nicotine is then added to the mixture, which is then shaken to ensure the ingredients blend together. After this, the e-liquid is left for a few days, allowing the flavour to become more profound.

This process is sometimes referred to informally as ‘steeping’ and works in the same way that you might age a cut of meat or allow a bottle of wine to air before drinking.

WHY DOES E-LIQUID USE PG AND VG?

Propylene glycol and vegetable glycerin are commonly used as additives in a number of different food products, including ice cream and biscuits. Both generally help preserve food and are used as a diluent in e-liquid to dilute the nicotine.

Propylene glycol is a synthetic compound that is commonly used in food products and cosmetics. Vegetable glycerin is often obtained from coconut oil or soya beans.

All of the ingredients in our liquidpods and e-liquids are stated clearly on the back of the packet. Always purchase vape products from a company you trust, such as blu, as this will ensure they are made and packaged in a protective environment and benefit from significant scientific research.

WHAT ARE THE DIFFERENT TYPES OF NICOTINE?

You might have heard of the various forms of nicotine used in e-liquids: freebase nicotine and nicotine salt. Both of these e-liquid ingredients have their place in vaping, but there is a key difference.

Freebase nicotine is the traditional derivative that has been used since the 1960’s and is the strongest and most pure form of the two.

Nicotine salts or nic salts, on the other hand, are newcomers to the vaping game. Innovative and enhancing the strength of flavour, nic salts generally provide a smoother vaping experience Don’t worry, there’s none of the taste associated with table salt.
